Notice to EN-EL3 Li-ion Battery User
6th December 2005 [Updated]:
On November 8, 2005, we announced a voluntary recall and replacement
program for certain Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries EN-EL3. However, it
has become clear that some applicable lot numbers were omitted in that
announcement.
Please accept our sincerest apologies for this omission. We take this
opportunity to add omitted lot numbers to the list of recalled EN-EL3
batteries. The lot numbers added at this time apply only to EN-EL3
batteries supplied with purchase of the Nikon D50 digital-SLR camera.
The affected Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries EN-EL3 for Nikon Digital SLR
Cameras may on rare occasions overheat causing the camera to deformed or
in the worst case, posing a fire hazard
The Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL3 is a lithium-ion battery for use
with Nikon D100, D70, D70S, and D50 digital-SLR cameras. Among these 4
models, it is supplied with purchase of the D100, D70, and D50. In the
interest of our customers' safety, we have, as mentioned earlier,
decided to implement a voluntary recall and replacement program.
Customers with recalled batteries should request a replacement battery
as indicated below.
